Wollaston Charity Golf Day23/06/2016
We're delighted to announce that this year’sWollaston golf day was a huge success and raised £3,000 for NC TLC - ournominated charity for 2016/17!
NC TLC Trust was set up in July 2008 by the Smith family after their son TJ underwent a treatment for Leukaemia. Although the medical care they received was brilliant, they found that the aftercare support for the families was non-existent and they decided to start up a charity that would provide this emotional and practical support to the entire family living with cancers.
As we begin our fund raising efforts, our main objective is to raise enough funds to cover the cost of at least 20 children and their families to take a 3-night,Christmas Fantasy Break in December 2016. We kicked off the fund raising with our annual Wollaston golf day held at Northampton Golf Course in Harlestone.
The purpose of the day as well as fund raising is to get a team of golfers entered into the BMW Golf Cup International, a competition now recognised as the largest amateur golf series in the world. The categories for the day’s competition were high handicap, low handicap and a ladies category.
We had a strong attendance of over 100 golfers who enjoyed a putting clinic with pro golfer Nick Soto, a full day of golfing in the sunshine (luckily it was sunny despite being June!)
Our winners were Romey Patel, John Scriven and Anne Hammond. These winners will now betaking part in the regional round to be held at Woburn and, in doing so, will have the chance of progressing to the National Final held at St Andrews later in the year.
We’rethrilled that the golf day raised £3000 for NC TLC and delighted that thismoney will go towards helping to put smiles on the faces of the children andfamilies supported by this extremely worthy charity!
